I'm back from Paris. It was a brilliant trip, and I had a great time. I'll write some more crap tomorrow, which is the official day of rest and epic photo processing; Lightroom's final count on photos came to 1115 in total, which means that the shutter, which is rated for 100,000 exposures, is now 1.1% closer to failure. Sure only a few of the pics will be any good, but its digital...I'm not counting (well I am now). Also, I've decided the 18-55mm kit lens is actually bloody good. I've been mainly using the 50mm F1.8 II (which one should buy if you have a Digital Rebel / EOS xxxD) until now, but in Paris, I've needed the versatility of wide angle (well, as wide as 18 * 1.6 is). I've had it at F/5.0 instead of F/3.5 at 18mm though, and some shots have been at F/8.0 when theres been enough light to make the shots sharper, but the lens has performed excellently.
